Historical archaeology
Significant historical (post-contact) archaeological resources can be found under the ground, as well as within standing buildings under floors, in ceilings and in wall spaces. Archaeological investigation of these resources through archaeological techniques can tell us new things about the past.
We offer services for all stages of work associated with historical archaeological requirements, including:

- Archaeological Excavation Strategy and Research Design / Archaeological Research Design
- Archaeological Management Plans
- Permits under the Historic Cultural Heritage Act 1995 (TAS) and Heritage Act 2017 (VIC) for sites of State significance
- Consents under the Heritage Act 2017 (VIC)
- Approvals under Section 60 and Excavation permits under Section 140 of the Heritage Act 1977 (NSW)
- Archaeological test excavations

- Archaeological open area or 'salvage' excavation
- Post-excavation reporting
- Artefact processing, cataloguing and analysis
Latitude Heritage acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands in which we work, the palawa/pakana in Lutruwita/Tasmania and the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung in Naarm/Melbourne, VIC.
